Mary graduated from Sheffield University and Manchester Metropolitan University and has worked with textiles for 15 years. Her work relies on the poetic and symbolic language of materials, metaphor and visual symbolism to communicate information around climate change, imbalance, and displacement due to environmental or political change.

Stitch, hand or machine stitch, is integral to the construction of mixed media forms within Mary's practice. She also works with the photographic medium to explore the transitional aspect of time and migration, using staircase and pathways as an initial focus, and to record transient moments and materials.

Mary is based between Sheffield and London.
